Financial Care Coordinator Job description:
The Financial Care Coordinator is responsible for working directly with current clients and their families to address and resolve patient financial responsibility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring transparency, compassion, and accountability in financial discussions, while supporting clients through payment solutions that align with their individual circumstances.
Financial Care Coordinator Duties/Responsibilities:
• Engage with current clients to review and explain financial obligations related to treatment services
• Proactively collect payments toward outstanding patient balances
• Establish and manage structured payment plans based on client needs and organizational guidelines
• Communicate regularly with clients and families regarding account status, payment expectations, and available options
• Collaborate with families and external resources to identify and secure additional funding sources when applicable
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all financial interactions and agreements in the system
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, as well as state and federal regulations related to billing and collections
• Partner with admissions, clinical, and administrative teams to provide a seamless client experience
• Address billing questions, disputes, or concerns with professionalism and empathy
Financial Care Coordinator Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 2+ years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, or financial counseling preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive financial conversations
• Experience working with patients and families in a healthcare or behavioral health setting is a plus
• Ability to balance compassion with accountability in financial discussions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Empathy and professionalism in client interactions
• Problem-solving and negotiation skills
• Financial literacy and understanding of payment structures
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively
Financial Care Coordinator Schedule:
