Position Title: Director of Compliance

Director of Compliance job description:
The purpose of the Director of Compliance is to ensure that the organization’s administrative and clinical practices comply with federal and state regulatory entities, as well as The Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The Director of Compliance Ensures that all practices align with the mission, vision, values, and written policies and procedures to ensure success for our patients.

Director of Compliance duties and responsibilities:
• Works closely and communicates with Senior Leadership and other levels of management.
• Prepares and assists in the coordination for all licensing and accreditation activities including plans of correction.
• Works with Program Leadership in the formation of policies and procedures so that they may be approved by Senior Leadership.
• Studies changes in laws and regulations to determine if policy revisions are necessary.
• Maintains the library of the organization’s written policies and procedures. Documents policy revisions and annual policy review for all programs.
• Maintains copies of each facilities’ licenses, registrations, and certificates to ensure that they remain in compliance. Communicates with Program and Senior Leadership and facilitates the processes whenever these documents must be renewed.
• Maintains effective relationships with individuals from federal, state, and local regulatory entities including the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), Community Behavioral Health (CBH), the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), as well as CARF.
• Executes all decisions from the Executive Director.
• Ensures patient confidentiality as dictated by 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and applicable State laws.
• Reports, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices which are in violation of the organization, to Senior Leadership and the Governing Authority.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with staff at all times.
• Interacts with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the behavioral health program relating to physical health.
• Assists the Executive Director, and other members of the Senior Leadership Team, as needed.

Director of Compliance knowledge and skills:
• Knowledge of the accreditation processes with CARF.
• Knowledge of the rules and regulations that dictate substance abuse and mental health treatment within the states that the organization and its affiliates have a presence in.
• Knowledge of human services, including substance abuse, mental health, and co-occurring complications.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations that dictate confidentiality, patient rights, professional code of ethics, discrimination, knowledge of airborne and bloodborne pathogens (e.g. TB, HIV, AID, Covid-19) and risk reduction methodologies and the use of universal precautions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage teams within different states.
• Effective communication skills and excellent writing skills.
• Ability to pay attention to detail, effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to quickly adapt to changing schedules.
• Ability to prioritize work and work-related responsibilities.

Director of Compliance requirements:
• Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent required
• At least five years of full-time, or full-time equivalent, similar experience with licensure and accreditation activities.

Director of Compliance compensation:
• Yearly rate competitive with experience and location
